Re: Talk about sports damnit
I'm not sure the SEC would want VT, all they have is football and an occasional decent basketball team.
Also I don't see VT as the big dogs of the ACC. Sure they have had a good run recently winning the title basically every other year but it's not like they dominate everyone they play in conference. The ACC is probably the most even from top to bottom of all the conferences, which makes it fun to watch.
Another thought....How much more time does Dooley get in Knoxvegas before folks start callin' for his head??
Would an 0-8 conference record this season put him on the hot seat??

Carl Edwards or Tony Stewart? I'm not a fan of either but guess I'll pick Stewart because he gets on my nerves less. You guys do consider NASCAR a sport ?
You can observe a lot just by watching.

Hell, just tonight, Virginia Tech is hosting North Carolina. We used to have lively discussions during each VT game.
Tim Tebow's Denver Broncos take on the Rex Ryan led Jets.
College basketball is starting up; so is high school ball.
the NBA isnt gonna have a season, yet no one is talking about it?
WE ARE OVER HALFWAY THRU THE NFL SEASON FOR FUCK'S SAKE!!!!
Cmon people, at least give an effort.
Every poster that posts here regularly (Stripes, Lung, Counts, pvfan, Beast, Gotch, the Union guys, beamer_ball, etc..)
I CHALLENGE YOU.
I want every one of you to post one sports related thought in this thread. It can be about college football (will Tyler Bray play again this year?), NFL (NINERS BABY!), College basketball (is this the most talented CBB year ever?), NBA (I wont lie, I know stripes and I are the only NBA guys on here), high school football playoffs, high school bball (who wins the LPD? Who's the best player?), MMA (JDS just won the HW title! talk about it!) hell soccer, golf, rugby, anything.
Im still in afghanistan so its hard for me to find the time to get on here and reply to things. I do try to check this place every few days but its been dead for a long time.
Ok now sports related. Is it wrong if i want the dolphins to lose every game this year to have a shot at Andrew Luck?
Why should the winner of Brock/Overeem get the shot at JDS? Brock got destroyed in his last fight and i think the ufc is just trying to use him as a cash cow since they know his ppvs sell. Hell they probably dont want overeem to win so they can cash in big on jds/brock.

He's starting tomorrow.
Re: Talk about sports damnit
If UT changes coaches again within the next 3-4 years our program will all but go in the pits. We can't afford another coaching change and the attrition involved with a change. They need to let him see this thing through. Granted I expected more from this team, however, if you told me we would be without 5 of our top 6 players after 4 games then I wouldn't expect us to win another game especially while playing #14, #1, #2, #9, Midd Tenn St, and then #6 all in a 6 week span. Our West scheduled unluckily ended up being the 3 best teams in the conference (East or West). So this year is basically going to be one of those years you just pretend didn't exist and move on. I think Dooley is the man for the job and hope they see him through.

JMO but i think NCAA needs a playoff system and use the bowls that are in place as such. Maybe take conference champs and Independant with the best record. Make all conferences AQ. IMO this would be fair. Play the MAC champ vs Big East, MWC vs CUSA, SEC vs Big 12, Big Ten vs Pac 12, Acc vs Indep. so on and so on. This to me would make it more competeitive in every conference to get the championship plus it would give an equal shot to teams like Boise and TCU to win the title. The way it is set up now is imperfect but all things are. JMO but conf champs and the best record Independent schools could use most major bowls as a playoff and each year the champ game could be moved among the major bowls. for example, ACC vs Indep= Orange bowl. Big 12 vs SEC=Cotton Bowl. Big Ten vs Pac 12 Rose Bowl. Big East vs MAC= Sugar bowl. winners move on and make the Fiesta Bowl the champ game maybe next year the chick-fil-a bowl could be national champ game. This way most of the bowls will be used except maybe the smaller bowls but thats ok. Itll weed out alot of politics which is why this would never happen haha

I agree with the conf champs getting in. But if you win the Least say the MAC and your not ranked, the teams in ahead of you that didn't win theirs would be pissed IMO. The only Problem I have with the bowl system is the way the place teams in the games. Like the ACC getting in the Orange, SEC the Sugar, and so on.
I think they should do it this way IMO.
1vs 2 National title
3vs 4 Rose
5vs 6 Sugar
7 vs 8 Orange
9 vs 10 Fiesta
11 vs 12 chikfila
so on and so forth. JMO!
Re: Talk about sports damnit
Guys, a full out NCAA football playoff will never happen. Its really simple actually.
With a playoff, the majority of the profit share goes to the NCAA (look at the bball tourney); in this system, the conferences and schools get to keep most of the dough.
and timmy, I think Overeem has a good shot at beating Brock then JDS. JDS has never seemed invincible to me, Mirko was really almost even with him in their fight. JDS' only impressive win was Cain IMO. Carwin lost in embarrassing fashion to Lesnar, JDS took him to a decision. and yeah, the winner of BL/AO deserves a title shot IMO, who else is up there for one?
Gotch, Edwards all the way. I cannot stand Stewart, hes a douche.
I think its a sport in the same vein golf is a sport. Mental toughness is the biggest asset, but it does take god given skill.
No way UT fires Dooley, the injuries, turnover in staff and players, and the schedule would cripple any coach, Saban, Meyer or Miles included.
The ACC is a basketball conference anyway, VT should have lept to the SEC at the first chance. VT basketball will never be elite in the ACC, it has a better shot in the SEC. I know the UVA dilemma, but this is cutthroat business now, and UVA fits much better in the ACC anyway. VT would have been lucky to join the SEC, but they fucked around and got left out. Their mistake.
Lung, how many games did Bray play before his injury? I was thinking 3 but if its 4 or more, why not let him finish the season and stomp UK and face a tough defense in Vandy? If he cant get a medical, let him finish this season.
Re: Talk about sports damnit
Uhhhh I bet Biggin loves Iowa State....
Re: Talk about sports damnit
Bray was injured in game 5. No chance at a medical.
